Some Details About Artifacts and Order Halls in New Expansion
The new expansion of World of Warcraft has introduced new features, new class and new dungeons. In the previous articles, we offered you some details about new class, Demon Hunters. Here, we will write some information about Artifacts and Order Halls announced at Gamescom in this post. We hope you can read carefully and keep close here for more updates! The Artifacts
- The artifacts are a new type of weapons that will be added in the Legion expansion.
- No other weapons will drop in Legion. No legendary weapons either.
- Each spec will have his own unique artifact weapon. That makes 36 weapons in total.
- Every artifact weapon will have it’s own quest chain and story.
- The artifact quests are not so complicated. You can’t compare them with Warlock green fire quests or other class specific quest.
- These weapons will have a special UI, for both upgrade and customization.
- The progression paths of artifacts are still uncertain.
Artifacts Customization
- The customization of your artifacts takes place in your Class Specific area – in your Order Hall.
- You can transmog the looks of your artifact, but you can’t transmog an artifact onto another weapons.
- The weapons look should reflect what you like to do in game: PvP, Raiding, Dungeons, etc.
- When your artifact will gain a certain amount of power you can use a “master” appearance of that weapon.
- You can unlock various looks of your weapon by various in-game activities.
- The new Honor System (we’ll talk about it later) will unlock an unique artifact look as well.
- The druids forms are going to be affected by these artifacts. The look will change based on the weapon we wear.

Upgrading Artifacts
- You’ll use the same weapons in Legion, and you’ll level them up and increase their power.
- Leveling up and various activities in Legion will increase the power of your artifacts and unlock the weapon traits.
- Eventually you’ll unlock all the traits, but Blizzard still works on how exactly this will work.
- There are two upgrade paths: the weapon traits and the weapon stats.
- The stats are increased with relics, and these will drop from various encounters.
- For multiple specs, you can earn the other weapon after you start with one, and they think about some catch-up mechanism.
- There will be no catch-up mechanism when it comes to relics.
Artifacts per spec: Only a few details were given here and even what we know is not sure it will remain unchanged in the future. Anyhow, here is what a few classes/specs will use an their artifacts:
- Blood(?) Death Knights: Maw of the Damned
- Frost Death Knight: Ice Bringer and Soul Reaper – forged from the pieces of Frostmourne.
- Feral Druids: Fangs of the First Nightsaber
- Survival Hunters: The Eagle Spear – you’ll have to deal with the Highmountain Tauren lore for this weapon.
- Hunters: Thas’dorah, Legacy of the Windrunners
- Retri Paladins: The Ashbringer – this fits like a glove honestly
- Frost Mages: Ebonchill, Greatstaff of Alodi
- Mistweaver Monks: Sheilun, Staff of the Mists – you’ll have to revisit Pandaris for this
- Enhancement Shaman: Doomhammer – again, this seems perfect for this class
The Order Halls / Class Orders
- The class identity is something Legion will focus on. Each class will be unique.
- You will lead your class and work together with your order. You won’t have to build your Order Halls. there is nothing compared to Garrisons.
- Here you’ll customize your artifact weapons.
- These halls are shared with your class only. Something similar to Acherus, for Death Knights.
- Rogues might have their halls in the Dalaran Sewers.
- Templar Sanctum beneath Light’s Hope Chapel for Paladins.
- Legion Portal for Warlocks.
- Hollowed-out cave by Maelstrom for Shamans.
- You’ll collect Champions (evolved followers) that are not so many but are more meaningful compared to the current followers.
* The champions allow you to do stuff and help you along the way. They won’t do things for you.
* Example: they can patrol and area for you, and there you’ll get combat bonuses or rewards in that area.
